ChildsPlay Café & Private Nursery first opened in May 2008 as a child friendly café, since then it has grown into a thriving business and has expanded into a full private Nursery.
Privately Owned Business partners Jo Courtney and Simone Rual saw a gap in the city for something a little different and both having extensive working backgrounds with in the childcare environment. Jo has had 11 years working as a Registered Childminder in Torfaen and under the CSSIW, Simone’s background is in the Fashion and Textiles with extensive management experience, followed by 5 years experience in Adult education and 3 years in Youth and Community both taking a very hands on approach within the Nursery.
We understand that choosing the right care for your children is a very important decision to make for any parent. We provide care for Boys & Girls from three months to eleven years.
Reassurance they will receive the individual attention, loving and stimulating care in a safe and secure setting, that will give them the opportunity to grow and develop at their own pace.

ChildsPlay Day Care Nursery is registered with the CSSIW (Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales). The café has an electronic gate on entering the café area and breakfast area. There is a security door leading to the upper floors and staff are vigilant about asking for identity passes when allowing other professionals into the setting. Walkie talkies enable dialogue between all staff at all times and a visitors book is at our main reception to be completed by all visitors entering the Nursery.
As a nursery we are aware of the Early Years Foundation Stage and follow the guidelines where possible. The primary aim of our setting is to allow children to learn through play. However, for those children who need help with homework or other school work we have staff who are qualified to help them where necessary if this is what you require.
